BGC Hostel Makati is one of the three BGC Hostels in Metro Manila. The other two are BGC Hostel Manila and BGC Hostel Quezon City. Oh, by the way, BGC does not mean Bonifacio Global City but “Be at your Greatest Comfort”. 🙂
Among the three BGC Hostels, the Makati branch has the most beautiful design especially in the common areas. It is located in Danlig Street, Makati City, a few steps away from EDSA. Going there, I took the MRT and alighted at Buendia Station. I must say it was a long walk from the train station to the hostel, but I don’t really mind, it’s cardio. 🙂 The hostel is also near Mercury Drugstore hence you can buy things that you might need during your stay, including snacks and toiletries.

I am a lover of beautiful and colorful things. I am a lover of dorm-type hostels because you may have the most basic bed but you will meet the most amazing people. So guys, if you are looking for a comfy but cheap accommodation in Manila area, then I recommend BGC Hostel Manila! It’s conveniently located along Vicente Cruz Street near Espana Avenue. It is also near the University Belt, specifically the University of Santo Tomas.
BGC means “Be at your greatest comfort”, not Bonifacio Global City. 🙂 BGC Hostels has three branches — in Manila, Makati, and Quezon City. I had the opportunity to check-in at BGC Hostel Manila for a night and experience its nautical-themed accommodation.

My friends know me as a person who’s been really avoiding rice since I started hitting the gym. Since then, I’ve been looking for healthier alternatives both for food and drinks. Initially, I depended on soya drinks and wheat bread for my pre-workout meal but I guess it cannot give me the amount of energy I needed for my workout. I needed something that can prevent me from being hungry during workout, something that can provide me the energy I need, something that has the right amount of calories, and at the same time something that’s yummy!
Having discovered Coffee and Protein, a pop-up store in the same building as my gym, was like winning the lottery because it has the type of menu that satisfies all my conditions for a perfect pre-workout meal. I think the location is kind of strategic for the store because I saw several gyms just along the stretch of Holy Spirit Drive. However, I have to emphasize that Coffee and Protein’s menu is not only meant for gym goers and health-conscious people alike, but it indeed caters the general public.

Whenever I will be asked by any foreigner on what to see in Manila, I always, always recommend visiting Intramuros because it offers a rich experience about the Philippines and its Spanish colonial past. To go to Intramuros via train, take the LRT 1 Yellow Line and alight at Central Terminal Station. Take the Lawton underpass in order to get to the walled city of Intramuros.
Everywhere you look in Intramuros will give you a Spanish vibe because much of the establishments here are either preserved and/or designed following the architectural details during the Spanish colonization. The whole area is walkable, but you can opt to ride the pedicabs to go around. I collected these 27 spots with the help of travel guides from the Department of Tourism and curated photos of them to guide you in your Intramuros Walking Tour:
1. Fort Santiago/Rizal Shrine
2. Palacio Del Gobernador

Hidden along Paseo De Roxas Street in Makati City is this small but beautiful pizza restaurant named Stephen’s Brick Oven Pizza and is really worth the visit.
The interior design is not yet complete but is already is enough to give the customers a relaxing vibe.

In fact, I cannot help but take a photo of every corner of this place.
I had the chance to try five pizza flavors during our stay. Are you ready for a virtual tour of Stephen’s Brick Oven Pizza menu? 🙂
There are a total of 15 pizza flavors in their menu and we got to try the (1) Crusty Crustacean, (2) Muscle Up, (3) Surf N’ Turf, (4) Bleu Bacon, and (5) S’mores. All of them are the bestsellers. Their pizza is available either on Single (4 slices) and Ready to Mingle (8 slices) sizes. I could say that the prices here are cheap but the quality of the food can really compete with the expensive ones.
